Mission
The Tahoe Truckee COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disaster) develops and enhances partnerships to create a resilient Tahoe Truckee region that is prepared to respond and recover from disasters. We do this through communication, cooperation, coordination, and collaboration with a variety of stakeholders including non-profit & faith-based organizations, government agencies, and the private sector.
Access & Functional Needs Outreach Program
We recognize that populations who have a disability or limited mobility, speak a language other than English, are under-resourced, and/or have other access & functional needs are disproportionally affected by disasters. In partnership with Sierra Community House, the Tahoe-Truckee Community Foundation, and the Sierra Health Foundation, the Access & Functional Needs Program was established in 2023.
The goals of the Tahoe Truckee COAD Access and Functional Needs Program include:
- Inclusion and prioritization of diverse and underrepresented voices and communities in the Tahoe Truckee COAD
- Increased cultural competency, equity in access and capacity in the Tahoe Truckee COAD
- Increased resiliency and social capital in under-resourced communities in the Tahoe Truckee region
