Living Well with a Chronic Condition (Mar 5-Apr 9)

Improve your quality of life and lower your health care costs with this 6-week interactive workshop that will help you take charge of your chronic disease. Learn techniques for dealing with frustration, fatigue, pain, and isolation; build your strength and endurance; and learn how to effectively communicate with family, friends, and health professionals. Participants will work together over this six-week course to share experiences, make action plans, and problem-solve alongside others with chronic conditions such as heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, depression, asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema.

Freedom from Smoking (Apr 3-May 15)

Are you ready to quit smoking? Finding your path to a smoke-free life is easier with the right help. The American Lung Association’s Freedom from Smoking program is a proven way to quit smoking—and stay quit—even if you’ve tried before and went back to smoking. Over the course of eight classes, you’ll set a quit date, build a quit plan, and work through your first smoke-free weeks with the support of your classmates.

Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (Apr 4-May 9)

Take charge of your diabetes. Learn about self-care and symptom management and how to make choices that lead to better health. This interactive workshop includes hands-on activities, demonstrations, role play, and games in a fun and supportive environment.

Disaster can strike at any time without warning. Learn how to make a plan to protect yourself, your family, and your property during natural and man-made disasters.

Confident Dementia Caregiver (2-Day Class)

Feel comfortable and knowledgeable when assisting someone with dementia. Learn about the causes of various types of dementia, appropriate tools for redirection, and how to work with common behaviors of those experiencing memory loss. Explore realistic approaches to repetitive, agitated, or combative behavior.

Lifting Techniques for Home Caregivers

You don’t have to be a bodybuilder to lift someone safely. Learn lifting and transferring techniques to move someone into and out of a car, chair, bed, or bathtub without injuring her or yourself.
